Vote for the IronBirds All Decade Team

March 8, 2012

We need you, the fans, to help us pick the IronBirds All-Decade Team!

Since 2002, the IronBirds have been a fixture in Aberdeen and we're celebrating our first 10 years throughout the 2012 season. Our fans have been the driving force behind ten consecutive sell-out seasons at Ripken Stadium, and now we want you to make your mark on our 10th Anniversary by voting online to select the players who most deserve to be on the IronBirds All-Decade Team.

Join us on Facebook in the weeks leading up to IronFest as each week we'll post different positions and give you the opportunity to pick from some of the best players to ever don an IronBirds uniform.

Each week, a lucky participant will be randomly chosen to receive a game-worn road jersey from the 2006 - 2008 seasons. And at the end of the contest, three grand-prize winners will be randomly chosen to receive signed memorabilia!

Voting begins on Monday, March 12th and the All-Decade Team will be named at IronFest on May 5th. Here are the positions you'll be voting for each week:

March 12 - 16 1st and 3rd basemen
March 19 - 23 2nd basemen and shortstops
March 26 - 30 Catchers
April 2 - 6 Starting pitchers
April 9 - 13 Relief pitchers
April 16 - 20 Managers

You can only vote once per category, but check back often and vote in every category to increase your chances of winning!

Players that will be vying for spots on the All-Decade Team include prospects that posted exceptional numbers at their position during an individual season, players named to the New York-Penn League All-Star Team, players that earned the team MVP award, and Orioles first-round draft picks who played for the IronBirds.

Check Facebook often throughout the contest and invite your friends to join in on the fun. As we gear up for IronFest on May 5th, we'll also have random trivia, photo contests, and other fun games on Facebook where you'll have the chance to win more prizes from the IronBirds.
