Though the Blue Wahoos fell two outs short of their fourth no-hitter in franchise history, Pensacola took the Sunday finale, 4-3 at AT&T Field.

Leading 4-0 in the top of the ninth, the Wahoos opted to bring in Brian McKenna for the ninth rather than the closer, Colton Hock. McKenna, who had pitched a perfect inning earlier in the series, began the ninth by striking out Byrd Tenereowicz.

The next batter, Braxton Lee, drew a walk before Leonardo Rivas lined a single into center field for the Lookouts first hit of the afternoon. Following the base hit, Jose Barrero uncorked a three-run homer to left to bring the Lookouts to within a run.

After the homer, Hock was brought into to record the final two outs, which he did without difficulty.

Throughout the game, the pitching was superb for Pensacola. Starter Brandon Leibrandt (W, 2-3) turned in his best outing of the season by hurling six hitless, shutout innings in which the southpaw walked three and struck out two.

Following Leibrandt, Dylan Bice and Andrew Bellatti each chipped in a chipped in a scoreless inning without allowing a hit or a walk.

Offensively for the Blue Wahoos, Sunday was defined by the long ball.

After Pensacola jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the second, the Wahoos homered one in three straight innings to push their lead to 4-0. Jerar Encarnacion hit the first of two opposite-field home runs in the top of the fourth against Lookouts starter Randy Wynne (L, 1-2). In the fifth inning, Jhon Nunez belted a towering home run to right-center for his first hit of the year. Then in the sixth, Encarnacion struck again, this time off Eddy Demurias, who had not allowed an ER yet at any level this season.

With the win, the Wahoos and Lookouts split the series. Pensacola will now head home to prepare a six-game series against the Montgomery Biscuits while the Lookouts will prepare to hit the road for an interdivisional series against the Tennessee Smokies.
