Weaver ties Bees scoreless innings mark
Weaver (4-1), the Angels' top-rated pitching prospect and the younger brother of Los Angeles starter Jeff Weaver, allowed four hits and struck out eight without issuing a walk. The 6-foot-7 right-hander also ran his scoreless streak to 27 1/3 innings, matching the club record set by Kevin Gregg in 2003.
Weaver, who lowered his ERA to 2.05, has 66 strikeouts and eight walks in 57 innings.
Curtis Pride went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs to help first-place Salt Lake (26-17) win its second straight.
Zephyrs starter David Gil (0-3) surrendered nine runs on 12 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
