September 17, 2009
Former first-round pick Jemile Weeks hit a go-ahead three-run homer Wednesday as the Midland RockHounds evened the best-of-5 Texas League Championship Series at 1-1 with a 7-6 victory over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Coming off an 11-5 drubbing in Tuesday's series opener, Midland fell behind, 5-0, in the second before answering with two runs in the bottom of the inning. But the RockHounds still trailed, 5-2, heading to the sixth against former Carolina League Pitcher of the Year Rowdy Hardy.

Shane Peterson led off the inning with his first postseason homer and Archie Gilbert went deep two batters later to make it 5-4. Josh Horton chase Hardy with a single and Corey Wimberley greeted Major League veteran Chad Orvella (1-1) with another base hit to set the stage for Weeks.

Selected 12th overall in the 2008 Draft, Weeks sent Orvella's first pitch over the right-field fence for his second postseason homer. He leads the league with eight playoff RBIs.

Graham Godfrey (1-0) overcame a rocky start to pick up his first postseason win, allowing five runs on seven hits over six innings. Jon Hunton tossed 1 1/3 scoreless frames for his third save.

Cody Clark delivered a two-run double and Marc Maddox hit a two-run homer for the Naturals, who host Game 3 on Friday night.
