Werner Granted Naming Rights for New Park

OMAHA, NE -- Werner Park is the name of the new Sarpy County Baseball Park, which will officially open on April 15, 2011. The name was announced by Martie J. Cordaro, Vice President and General Manager of the Omaha Royals at an afternoon news conference held Thursday, November 11, 2010.

Derek Leathers, Chief Operating Officer of Werner Enterprises and President of Werner Global Logistics was on hand to unveil the new logo and talk about the long-standing partnership Werner has had with Triple-A Baseball in Omaha and the benefits of the team to the community as a whole.

"Today we honor the extended Werner family, the associates and professional drivers that are a part of Werner Enterprises and Werner Global Logistics across the globe," said C.L. Werner, Chairman, Werner Enterprises. "The naming of Werner Park is dedicated to all of them and their efforts in keeping our company competitive, successful and financially sound. We are committed to having a positive impact in this community and look forward to the future of Werner Park."

"For the past four years Werner Enterprises has played a large part in sponsoring the Omaha Royals," said Derek Leathers, Chief Operating Officer of Werner Enterprises and President of Werner Global Logistics. "We are pleased with the positive results and wish to continue that tradition. So much so, that we are stepping it up and offering a long-term commitment as the Naming Rights Partner of their new facility, Werner Park."

"The Team's partnership with Werner Enterprises has been outstanding," said Martie J. Cordaro, Vice President and General Manager of the Omaha Royals. "It began four years ago when they became our presenting partner and today we are launching a new era in Omaha's Triple-A Baseball history. Welcome to Werner Park."

In addition to the announcement of the ballpark name, seven premier corporate partners were in attendance. Quality Brands of Omaha, represented at the news conference by owner, Jim "Gus" Gustafson, is sponsoring the Scoreboard Bar, located to the left of center field near the scoreboard. Dawn Gonzales, Vice President and Director of Marketing represented Centris Federal Credit Union, which is sponsoring the Family Fun Zone, a secure area in left field foul territory.

Five Cornerstone Partners were also represented at the afternoon event. Pinnacle Bank, represented by Brad Eckhoff, Papillion/La Vista Branch President, will provide ATM service at the new ballpark; Pepsi, represented by Shawn Early, will have pouring rights in the park; Susan Jacques, President and CEO of Borsheims, represented the company as sponsor of Borsheims Diamond whiffleball field; McDonald's is the sponsor for the Berm & Bullpens and was represented by Steve Leonard; Heidi Grunkemeyer of Alegent Health represented Alegent, which is sponsoring Rosenblatt Way, the concourse along the first baseline.

On Monday, November 15, the club will announce the name of the team at a public event to be held at the Embassy Suites La Vista. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. to the public, with the announcement to follow just after 6:00 p.m.
