When in Rome, Score 24 Runs on 24 Hits

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (10-8) dismantled the Rome Braves (4-15) in a 24-2 blowout in Rome, GA, on Wednesday night.

Right fielder Steven Souza went 4-for-6 with a triple, home run and nine RBIs, one short of tying the South Atlantic League record for most RBIs in a single game (10, James Barbe- Asheville, 1978). Jason Martinson served as the designated hitter in and drove in five runs to raise his total to 23 for the season. As a collective line-up, the Suns also drew 14 walks against the Braves pitching staff.

Suns starting pitcher Taylor Hill (3-0) won his third game of the season with five solid innings of work, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with no walks or strike outs. Nathan Karns (1) earned the save with four shutout innings as the lone man out of the bullpen.

Braves starting pitcher Carlos Perez (0-3) suffered the loss after allowing seven runs on eight hits over two innings. The Suns scored at least three runs on all five Rome pitchers who entered the game. Braves' first baseman Edison Sanchez went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
