Whitecaps heat up with ticket promotion

July 5, 2012
COMSTOCK PARK, MI -the West Michigan Whitecaps have gone a little crazy in the heat. This unprecedented heat wave has caused the Whitecaps an unprecedented promotion.

On Friday, July 6, if the temperature in Grand Rapids reaches 100 degrees, the price of reserved seat tickets to the Whitecaps game that evening will be reduced to only $1.00. This is a difference $9.50 of the normal $10.50 price.

Whitecaps CFO Denny Baxter claims he didn't understand the promotion when he signed off on the idea. "I just came in from the parking lot and man it was hot out there. I thought they were asking me if I had change for a dollar when I said yes."

Fans are encouraged to check the Whitecaps facebook (http://www.facebook.com/wmwcaps) and twitter (http://twitter.com/wmwhitecaps) pages to see if the temperature threshold has been met.

The Whitecaps take on Lake County Friday night at 7:00 pm. Detroit Tiger Legend Willie Horton will be signing autographs from, 6:00 pm - 7:45 pm as part of the Whitecaps Tiger Friday series. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a Willie Horton Living Baseball Card courtesy of BCF Wealth Strategies. Gates open at 5:45 pm.

Group and individual tickets to any remaining Whitecaps home game can be reserved by calling the Whitecaps front office at 616-784-4131 or visiting www.whitecapsbaseball.com.
