Yankees extend contract through 2014

May 20, 2010
The New York Yankees are pleased to announce the extension through the 2014 season of their Player Development Contract (PDC) with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, their Triple-A affiliate in the International League. In addition, SWB Yankees LLC, a joint venture between the New York Yankees and Mandalay Baseball, renewed their management agreement to operate the franchise for the next four seasons as well.

"We remain committed to having our Triple-A franchise in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre," said Lonn Trost, Chief Operating Officer of the New York Yankees. "The market offers us an excellent combination of business opportunities as well as player development and baseball operations efficiencies. We are delighted to be extending our relationships in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

"We look forward to continuing to work with county leadership and members of the Multi-Purpose Stadium Authority of Lackawanna County to develop a plan to significantly improve the current stadium or replace it with a new one. The fans here are great, and we are committed to doing everything possible to provide a high quality family entertainment experience to the residents of Northeast Pennsylvania."
