Zephyrs Announce New Flagship Radio Station
"Partnering with WMTI is a huge opportunity for the Zephyrs," said Jeff Booker, Zephyrs Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Community Relations. "This puts our games on a much stronger signal, giving us access to our North Shore fans who couldn't pick us up before. A strong portion of the WMTI audience are Zephyrs fans already so this is a natural fit."
"Citadel Broadcasting will also use their other local stations, like Mix 92.3, Old School 106.7 and Power 102.9 to help promote the radio broadcasts and the Zephyrs in general. For the first time ever, the Zephyrs will have an entire radio group get behind us as a partner, much like the Hornets and Saints have had for years."
All 144 Zephyrs home and away games will be carried by True Oldies 106.1 FM. Tim Grubbs returns for his ninth season as the play-by-play voice of the Zephyrs, and will again be joined by Ron Swoboda on all home broadcasts.
"We are proud that True Oldies 106.1 will be the new flagship radio station of the New Orleans Zephyrs this year and for many years to come," said David Smith, General Manager of Citadel Broadcasting New Orleans. "We understand the value and heritage of the Zephyrs in our community and will work hard to build upon this great tradition of exciting baseball and outstanding family entertainment. Play ball!"
The Z's begin the 2010 season at Zephyr Field on Thursday, April 8th when they face the Round Rock Express at 7:00 p.m. For more information and to purchase ticket packages, please call the Zephyrs at (504) 734-5155.
