DUNEDIN, Fla. - The Dunedin Blue Jays rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh and knocked off the Miracle, 8-4, on Wednesday night at Dunedin Stadium.
The Blue Jays scored the final seven runs of the contest. Yeltsin Gudino gave them a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the second. The Miracle tied the game right away in the third. Joe Cronin led off with a double and later came in to score on an error, one of three miscues by the Blue Jays in the game.
Travis Blankenhorn made it 2-1 Miracle with an RBI single in the fourth. Fort Myers added two more in the fifth, when they loaded the bases with nobody out on singles by Jared Foster, Alex Robles, and Aaron Whitefield. Jimmy Kerrigan brought home one with a sacrifice fly and another scored on a passed ball.
Dunedin got the two runs back in the bottom of the fifth. Miracle starter Anthony Marzi issued a leadoff walk to Gudino. Following a double by Dalton Pompey and a strikeout of Anthony Alford, Logan Warmoth reached on an error by shortstop Alex Perez that allowed both runs to score.
The Miracle loaded the bases with one out in the top of the seventh, but failed to score. They went 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position in the game and left 11 on base.
Warmoth led off with a walk in the home half of the seventh and later scored the first of five runs for the Blue Jays on Bradley Jones's RBI double. Pompey delivered the big blow, a two-out two-run double.
Nick Hartman (1-0) earned the win in relief for Dunedin. Colton Davis (1-2) suffered the loss for the Miracle. Marzi took a no-decision, allowing two earned runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings.
