Sixth Inning Surge Leads Mets to 7-3 Win

FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 17, 2017) - The St. Lucie Mets (9-15) scored four runs in the top of the sixth to defeat the Fort Myers Miracle (17-6) 7-3 on Monday morning. Down 3-0, back-to-back home runs by Jhoan Urena and Peter Alonso tied the game at three.

The Miracle took an early lead, scoring runs in the second, third and fifth. Zander Wiel provided a double along with two walks and a run while Nelson Molina Scored the other two runs. Jermaine Palacios also collected a single in his first four at bats.

After five scoreless innings from starter RHP Keaton Steele and RHP Williams Ramirez, LHP Michael Theofanopoulos (L, 4-2) came out for the sixth. He recorded the first two outs of the inning before issuing a walk to Patrick Mazeika. Urena then boomed a 3-1 pitch around the left field pole followed by the Alonso blast to tie the game.

In the same frame, Tim Tebow doubled down the right field line and two batters later, Jose Garcia singled up the middle to give St. Lucie the lead. They added runs in the eighth and ninth, including a broken bat RBI-single by Tebow, to provide the 7-3 final score.

LHP Kevin Canelon (W, 3-2) strck out four over three innings of relief work to earn the win while RHP Alex Palsha fired three scoreless frames to follow.

The Miracle head to Bradenton on Tuesday for a three-game series. First pitch of Game One against the Marauders is 6:30 PM ET.
