Austin Allen Named TL Player of the Week

San Antonio -The San Antonio Missions are proud to announce that catcher Austin Allen was named Texas League Player of the Week for April 16-22.
In his six games this past week, Allen batted .500 (11-for-22) with three doubles, two homers, four RBI and seven runs scored. For the week, Allen ranked second in the Texas League in total bases (20), while tying for second in both homers and runs scored. The St. Louis, MO native also finished in the TL's top four in 10 different offensive categories overall for the week.
Allen was consistently productive all week for the Missions, hitting safely in five of the six games, with all five being of the multi-hit variety. In addition, Allen, who has also played first base this season, scored multiple runs on three different occasions.
In 16 games this season, Allen is batting .355 (22-for-62) with six doubles, six homers, 10 RBI and 12 runs scored. He enters Tuesday leading the TL in SLG at .742, tied with teammate Josh Naylor for the league lead in total bases with 46, while also ranking second in homers, tied for second in extra-base hits and tied for third in hits.
San Diego selected Allen in the fourth round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Florida Institute of Technology.
San Antonio (10-7) resumes its four-game series with Frisco (3-14) tonight at 7:05 PM.
