BayBears bats kept quiet in loss to Braves

PEARL, Miss. (June 14, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, surrendered four runs in a two-inning span late in the game and fell 5-1 to the Mississippi Braves Friday night at Trustmark Park.
Jason Alexander allowed just one unearned run in a five-inning start. He struck out six batters and did not issue a walk.
However, Mobile's bullpen gave up four runs in three innings after 7 2/3 scoreless innings to start the series. The Braves (31-35) tallied three runs against Joe Gatto (3-3) in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie.
Jo Adell drove in Brendon Sanger with a single in the fifth for the only BayBears (26-39) run.
Drew Waters finished the game 4-for-5 and hit a two-run homer in the seventh. He was just a triple shy of the cycle.
Jasseel De La Cruz recorded a quality start but did not factor in the decision. Claudio Custodio (3-1) earned the win, and Josh Graham pitched a pair of hitless innings to pick up his seventh save.
