After a hitless game in the series opener, Jahmai Jones went 3-for-4 with a triple in the first inning to drive in Brandon Marsh , who also had a multi-hit game. Jones is batting .419 with 14 RBIs, 10 extra-base hits, and 13 runs scored in the last four home series.
Jordan Zimmerman contributed with a leadoff home run in the fourth to increase the lead to 3-0. Zimmerman plated the second BayBears (49-84 overall, 22-43 second half) run with a double in the first inning as well.
However, Tennessee (56-80, 23-44) tallied the final four runs of the game. Cubs top prospect Nico Hoerner tied the game with a fielder's choice in the seventh and scored the go-ahead run on a Jared Young single off Joe Gatto (5-4) in the ninth.
Craig Brooks (2-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, despite walking a batter and giving up a hit in the bottom of the ninth.
