MOBILE, Ala. (August 19, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, retired 12 consecutive batters to finish the game and defeat the Chattanooga Lookouts 8-3 Monday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
After a pair of batters reached against Dario Beltre in the sixth inning, Beltre set down the next nine hitters and recorded a season-high five strikeouts. Austin Warren pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to end the game.
The BayBears (45-78 overall, 18-37 second half) plated four runs on five hits in the bottom of the second against Packy Naughton (6-10) to grab a 4-1 lead. Jordan Zimmerman , Bo Way , and Brandon Marsh all had RBI singles, and Jahmai Jones drew a bases-loaded walk. Way added his seventh home run of the season in a three-run eighth.
Max Herrmann (1-2) gave up just one earned run in a five-inning start. The BayBears made a pair of errors for the second straight game, leading to two Lookouts (55-70, 19-37) runs in the top of the third.
The BayBears continue the five-game home series against Chattanooga Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Luis Madero (4-10, 5.99 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Johendí Jiminian (3-4, 4.24 ERA) for the Lookouts.
