Modesto, CA. - Dustin Hurlbutt outdueled Reggie McClain sending the Modesto Nuts to a 3-0 loss against the Stockton Ports on Friday night at John Thurman Field.

Reggie McClain (L, 2-5) worked seven strong innings for the Nuts (29-38) but got no help from the offense.

The first run he allowed came in the second inning. With two outs, Brallan Perez beat out a slow chopper to drive in a run with an infield single. The Ports (43-25) wouldn't get another run until the sixth. Jonah Heim doubled to start the inning. He later scored the second run on a passed ball. Luis Barrera whacked a RBI triple to cap a two-run sixth.

McClain struck out four and walked one in his seven innings.

That was all Dustin Hurlbutt (W, 2-2) needed. He heaved seven scoreless innings sending the Nuts to their eighth shutout of the season. The righty allowed just two infield singles to Evan White. Hurlbutt struck out four and walked three.

Andrew Tomasovich (S, 3/5) worked a perfect ninth inning for the Ports.
