San Jose, CA. - Runs in the first four innings built an insurmountable lead as the Modesto Nuts fell 5-2 against the San Jose Giants on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a four-game series at Municipal Stadium.
In the Nuts' (6-12) third straight loss, Tyler Jackson (L, 0-1) earned a spot start and worked four inning but allowed four runs on seven singles. Heath Quinn smacked a RBI single in the first inning to drive in the leadoff knock.
Johneshwy Fargas recorded a sac fly in the second before Connor Sabanosh added a RBI single in the third. Jalen Miller executed a sac fly in the fourth and that proved to be enough for Giants (11-7) starter Conner Menez (W, 2-0).
The southpaw worked five innings and struck out seven. He allowed just three hits including a RBI single to Gareth Morgan.
Peter Ruotolo (S, 1/1) tossed a perfect ninth for the Giants with a pair of strikeouts.
