The Nuts (23-29) best scoring opportunity came in the first innings against Ports' (31-21) starter Dustin Hurlbutt (W, 1-0). Donnie Walton single with one out. Kyle Lewis followed and smacked a double off the right field wall. Walton tried to score from first but was thrown out by a perfectly executed relay by the Ports' defense.

The Ports got to Ljay Newsome (L, 3-3) who worked five innings and allowed five runs on eight hits. A throwing error by shortstop Bryson Brigman allowed the first runs to score in the second. Solo homers by Nate Mondou in the third and Luis Barrera in the fourth added to the lead. Barrera drove in two more runs when he ripped a double in the fifth.
Evan Manarino (S, 1/1) heaved the final four innings and allowed just two singles while striking out three and walking none.
