Modesto, CA – With a 10-3 loss to the San Jose Giants, the Modesto Nuts suffered their third straight loss on Thursday night at John Thurman Field.

After the Giants (40-23) struck in the first, Trent Tingelstad smashed a solo home run over the center field wall to tie the game briefly in the bottom of the second inning. The Giants came back with four runs on four hits against Connor Phillips (L, 3-3) in the top of the third inning to knock Phillips out of the game. The righty worked 2.1 innings allowing five runs on six hits with four walks and two strikeouts.

Ryan Murphy (W, 3-1) allowed an RBI single to Matt Scheffler in the third but finished after five innings while striking out ten for the fourth time in his career.

Justin Lavey added his first professional home run with a solo shot in the eighth.

The Giants continued to add to their lead all night. Marco Luciano homered in the fifth and drove in his second run with a single in the sixth as part of a three-run frame. The Giants added an unearned run in the ninth.

The Nuts will look to snap their three-game skid in game four of the six-game series with the Giants on Friday night at John Thurman Field.
