MOBILE, Ala. - After a rainout on Thursday, the Biscuits (8-6) split their doubleheader with the Mobile BayBears (6-8), but finished off their final game at Hank Aaron Stadium with a 10-1 victory to win their second-straight series and rubber match on Friday night in the City of Six Flags.
Josh Fleming (1-1) started the first game of the twin bill, and looked sharp early, retiring the first six batters in order. The lefty would allow a sac fly to Erick Salcedo in the third and then an RBI-single to Connor Justus in the fourth that made it 2-0 Mobile.
The Biscuits would pull one back in the fifth on an RBI-single by Josh Lowe, and loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh, but Dalton Kelly grounded out as the BayBears evened the series at two games apiece with the 2-1 win.
It was all Butter and Blue in game two, however, as BayBears starter Patrick Sandoval (0-2) issued three walks in the third, including one with the bases loaded to Lowe, which opened the scoring. Dario Beltre walked in the next run before Jesús Sánchez shanked a two-run single into left that gave the Biscuits a 4-0 advantage.
The Biscuits would bring 11 batters to the plate in the fourth and scored six times, the most runs they have scored in an inning so far this season. Tyler Zombro opened and Kenny Rosenberg, Dalton Moats, and Phoenix Sanders finished it off, ensuring the Biscuits stayed atop the first half North Division standings going into a five-game series against the Mississippi Braves, which begins on Saturday at 6:05 PM CT with Ricardo Pinto (0-1) squaring off against Patrick Weigel (0-0).
The Biscuits will return to Riverwalk Stadium for a 10-game home stand against the Birmingham Barons (first five games) and Mobile BayBears (last five games) beginning on Thursday, April 25 when it will be Field of Dreams Night with a T-Shirt Giveaway.
