PEARL, Mis. – The Mississippi Braves (65-40) took a combined no-hitter into the top of the seventh inning and shut out the Biscuits (56-55), 7-0, on Friday night at Trustmark Park. The Biscuits are currently on a season-worst seven-game losing streak.

Freddy Tarnok (3-2) started on the mound for Mississippi, and the right-hander allowed Xavier Edwards to reach on an error by second baseman Jalen Miller in the first at-bat of the game. Edwards eventually got to second, and was thrown out trying to steal third, and was then promptly tossed from the game for arguing with the umpire.

In the bottom of the first, Shea Langeliers hit his 20th home run of the season for Mississippi—a three-run shot to left off Alex Valverde (2-5)—that put the M-Braves up 3-0. Greyson Jenista added an RBI-double in the bottom of the first to make it a 4-0 game. An inning later, Luke Wadell added to the M-Braves lead with an RBI-double of his own to make it 5-0 in the second.

Tarnok had four strikeouts as well as the no-hitter through four innings. Mississippi added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth on a Trey Harris RBI-single and a C.J. Alexander RBI-double to make it a 7-0 game, as Tarnok continued the no-hitter through six innings with seven strikeouts.

Tarnok retired the first batter of the seventh, and was then removed for Will Latcham, who served up a single to Ford Proctor that spoiled the combined no-hitter. The Biscuits could not muster another hit the rest of the game, however.

The Biscuits will try to bounce back when Jack Labosky (0-4) goes against Spencer Strider (3-6) on Saturday at 6:05 PM CT.

The Biscuits will return to Riverwalk Stadium for their final six-game series of the 2021 regular season against the Birmingham Barons starting on a Golden Biscuits Tuesday, on September 14 at 6:35 PM CT.

The rest of the series will include a Military Wednesday presented by WOW! on Wednesday, September 15; MGM Night with a T-Shirt Giveaway on Thursday, September 16; Fan Appreciation Night on Friday, September 17; Military Appreciation Night with MAX Fireworks on Saturday, September 18; and Lil' Crumbs Kids Club presented by Go Fish Alabama with a Poster Giveaway & Bark in the Park on Sunday, September 19.
