Montgomery Knock Lookouts Out Of Park With Series Finale Win, 9-6

CHATTANOOGA, Ten. – The Biscuits (52-48/24-14) soundly defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts (52-50/17-21) 9-6 Sunday afternoon at AT&T Field in the series finale. Montgomery was able to rack in 15 hits during the performance and move to 8-2 in their last 10 games.

For the first time in the series, the Lookouts scored first with a two-run home run to center from Allan Cerda to go up 2-0. In the top of the third, Greg Jones answered back with a two-run home run of his own as the Biscuits tied the game. Biscuits catcher Blake Hunt delivered another two-run home run to center to put Montgomery ahead 4-2.

In the bottom of the fourth, Lookouts infielder James Free cut the lead to 4-3 with a sac fly. Montgomery was able to drive in a pair of runs in the fifth thanks to a Kyle Manzardo RBI-double and Evan Edwards sac fly. Up 6-3 in the sixth, Osleivis Basabe put the Biscuits up one with a sac fly to extend the lead to 7-3.

Chattanooga cut at the lead in the bottom of the seventh as they recorded three runs and brought themselves within one. Leonardo Rivas smashed a two-run home run to right center. Moments later, TJ Hopkins struck a sac fly to make it 7-6 Lookouts.

With the game close and entering the later phases of regulation, Montgomery was able to dig deep and put the game away. Manzardo delivered the Biscuits’ third sac fly of the afternoon as they went up 8-6. Kameron Misner sealed the game as he piled on another run with an RBI-single.

Biscuits pitcher Trevor Brigden picked up his fourth win of the season and Cody Reed recorded the save for the afternoon. With the win, Montgomery is now 8-2 in their last 10 and well over .500.
