MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Biscuits (47-47/19-13) survived another scare as they fended off the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (50-46/15-17), 8-7 in ten innings. Clutch hitting down the stretch powered the Biscuits to their win and a .500 overall record.

The Biscuits scored first for the third straight time of this series, Osleivis Basabe struck an RBI-double that brought home shortstop, Greg Jones. In the bottom of the second, Jones would get on point with a line drive hit to left that turned into an RBI-double and scored Blake Hunt, 2-0 Biscuits.

J.D Osborne said he’s had enough of this as he decided to take things into his own hands and smash a solo home run to left in the fifth inning. The moonshot cut the Biscuit lead to one, 2-1. In the bottom of the innings, Biscuits’ Tyler Frank answered back with his own home run, a solo bomb to center that put Montgomery up 3-1. Ronny Simon then extended the gap with a sac fly to make it 4-1.

In the top of the sixth, The Blue Wahoos made some noise as they scored three runs and tied the game at four. Bubba Hollins first got things rolling with a RBI-double. Already in scoring position, Hollins was able to score as Osborne recorded back-to-back RBI-doubles, 4-3 Montgomery. Thomas Jones then connected on the third-straight RBI-double in the inning to tie the game and make things interesting.

In the sixth, Biscuits catcher Blake Hunt had something to say about that as he launched a three-run home run to right to give the Biscuits some breathing room, 7-4. Cobie Fletcher-Vance was able to reach base on a fielder’s choice and throwing error by Biscuits relief Graeme Stinson. Troy Johnston later grounded into a double play that scored another run and brought the Blue Wahoos within one, 7-6.

In the top of the eight, things got interesting when Hollins served a bomb, a solo, game-tying home run to right field. The tie would stay that way until the end of regulation as neither team could create offense in the ninth. It did not take long for the Biscuits to close it out in extra-innings. Biscuits Relief Jose Lopez worked magic on the mound getting a ground out, walk, and back-to-back strikeouts to retire the side.

With Niko Hulsizer in scoring position to start the tenth. Simon didn’t waste any time as he hit a ground-rule double on the first pitch to right to bring home Niko and walk off the game in extras 8-7.

The win puts Montgomery atop the South division and to .500 overall. The Boys in blue will look to continue their winning ways tomorrow when their bullpen goes against A.J Ladwig for Kids Water Bottle Giveaway and Bark In The Park Sunday at 3:33 PM CT.
