MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (4-4) kept it close all evening, but never pulled ahead, dropping Saturday night's game to the Biloxi Shuckers (5-4), 5-3, at Riverwalk Stadium.
Dalton Moats opened for Montgomery, and after working a 1-2-3 first inning, ran into trouble in the second, walking four-straight Shuckers and allowing another run on a fielder's choice to make it 2-0 Biloxi.
Thomas Jankins started on the other side for the Shuckers, and after holding the Biscuits scoreless through the first three frames, finally allowed an RBI-single to Brendan McKay in the fourth. In the sixth, a Patrick Leonard bloop single added to Biloxi's lead and made it 3-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, Rene Pinto came a few feet shy of a three-run homer, slugging a two-run double off Nattino Diplan to tie the game at three. Jose Disla (0-2) would come on for the Biscuits in the eighth, and surrendered a mammoth two-run homer to Cooper Hummel that gave the Shuckers the lead for good.
The Biscuits still threatened against closer Nate Griep in the ninth, but Jesús Sánchez struck out swinging with runners on first and second, which means there will be a rubber match on Sunday when Ricardo Pinto (1-0) does battle with Alec Bettinger (0-0) at 2:05 PM when it will also be Jackie Robinson Day featuring a Kids T-Shirt Giveaway presented by AKD at 2:05 PM CT.
