Robbie Ray leads Hens in 2-0 win over Indians

By Toledo Mud Hens | April 23, 2014 7:03 PM ET

James McCann and Mike Hessman powered the Mud Hens to a 2-0 win over the Indianapolis Indians on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Field. Toledo starter Robbie Ray tossed 8.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.

The Hens and Indians were scoreless through five innings before James McCann blasted his first home run of the season over the left field wall to give the Hens a 1-0 lead. Just one inning later, Mike Hessman connected with his third homer of the year.

Hessman now has 247 career International League homers, 11 shy of the IL record and is just eight dingers short of becoming the eighth player to have 400 minor league home runs.

The Hens and Indians continue their series on Thursday night with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m.

Toledo will send Derek Hankins to the mound to match up with Indy starter Adam Wilk.
