The Milwaukee Brewers officially began their 2018 Spring Training campaign on February 14 as invited pitchers and catchers officially reported to big league camp. Among the invitees were 2017 Mudcats Corbin Burnes, Freddy Peralta and Marcos Diplan. Burnes is a non-roster invitee to Major League Spring Training, while both Peralta and Diplan are currently on Milwaukee's 40-man roster.

Here's a look at how all three players fared during their 2017 seasons:
Burnes torched his way through the Carolina League before a May 29 promotion to Double-A Biloxi. Over 10 starts, Burnes went 5-0 with a 1.05 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 56 strikeouts in 60.0 innings pitched. Despite his limited tenure in the league, Burnes ended up leading all Carolina League pitchers with at least 60.0 innings pitched in both ERA and WHIP last season.

At the time of his promotion to Double-A, Burnes led the Carolina League in ERA (1.05), WHIP (0.88) and fewest baserunners/9ip ratio (8.25). He was also second in the league in lowest average against (.181), third in innings pitched (60.0) and fourth in strikeouts (56) before the promotion.
Burnes went on to go 3-3 while pitching to a 2.10 ERA over 16 starts and 85.2 innings with Double-A Biloxi. He also totaled 84 strikeouts, 20 walks and a .212 average against in Double-A.
Overall, Burnes went 8-3 with a 1.67 ERA between High-A and Double-A in 2017. His breakout 2017 season saw him total 140 strikeouts in 145.2 innings. He also posted a phenomenal 0.95 WHIP. The Brewers recognized his fantastic season by naming him the organization's 2017 Minor League Pitcher of the Year.
Peralta, like Burnes, also received a promotion to Double-A Biloxi after putting up impressive numbers with the Mudcats. Peralta totaled a staggering 78 strikeouts over 56.1 innings, 12 games and eight starts with the Mudcats before his June 23 promotion to Double-A. Peralta owned a Carolina League best 12.46 S0/9ip ratio when Milwaukee promoted him to Double-A. In all he went 1-3 with a 3.04 ERA, .188 average against and 1.24 WHIP with the Mudcats and was a mid-season Carolina League All-Star.

Peralta made his Biloxi debut on June 25 versus Mississippi where he totaled nine strikeouts in just three and 2/3 innings pitched. He went on to strikeout 10 batters over five innings in his next start in Brimingham and ended up with a 12.86 SO/9ip ratio over the length of his Double-A campaign. In all he struck out 91 (tied for the most in the Southern League's second half) and went 2-5 with a 2.26 ERA over 13 games and 11 starts with the Shuckers last season.
Overall, Peralta went a combined 3-8 while pitching to a 2.63 ERA over 25 games, 19 starts and 120.0 innings between High-A Carolina and Double-A Biloxi last season. He also totaled 169 strikeouts (tied for the seventh most in MiLB last season) and a 1.16 WHIP overall.
Diplan pitched in a total of 26 games, including 22 starts with the Mudcats last season. He finished the year going 7-8 with a 5.23 ERA and 119 strikeouts over 125.2 innings pitched. He also gave up 126 hits and allowed opponents to bat .266 against him. Diplan struggled with the long ball after allowing 11 home runs last season, seven of which were allowed during the first half of the season.

His 2017 debut came on April 10 in Wilmington and was arguably his most impressive outing of the season. Diplan worked through five no-hit innings with three walks and five strikeouts before giving way to Peralta back in the beginning of the 2017 season. He and Peralta combined on several tandem outings, with the two trading starter and reliever roles throughout much of the first half. Diplan went 1-0 with a 3.78 ERA over four relief appearances (16.2 IP, 3 BB, 17 SO) and was 6-8 with a 5.45 ERA over 22 starts (109.0 IP, 68 BB, 102 SO) last season.
