MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (September 21, 2017) - Former Myrtle Beach Pelicans outfielder Jacob Hannemann has been named a 2017 Rawlings Gold Glove Award© recipient for defensive excellence in left field, Minor League Baseball and Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc. announced Wednesday. For the fourth year in a row, a Myrtle Beach player or former Pelican has won a Gold Glove, with Hannemann following Hanser Alberto (shortstop, 2014), Trey Martin (center field, 2015) and Charcer Burks (left field, 2016).

Hannemann will receive his own Rawlings Gold Glove Award, modeled after the iconic award given to Major League Baseball's top defensive players, during the 2018 season.

Between both Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa, Hannemann recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 106 games, handling 240 total chances. The 26-year-old opened the season with the Smokies, and was promoted to Iowa before the Seattle Mariners claimed him off waivers and brought him to the big leagues in September. His September call-up marked him as the 11th former Pelicans to make his MLB debut during the 2017 season. He was originally selected by the Chicago Cubs in the third round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of Brigham Young University.
