HARTFORD, CT - Kevin Smith and Chad Spanberger shouldered the load on offense and Zach Logue worked a season-high 6.1 innings to lead Gatos Feroces de New Hampshire to a 4-2 win over Los Chivos de Hartford Friday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park.

Spanberger started the scoring for Gatos Feroces. He launched his third home run of the year to the top deck in right field in the third inning to make it 1-0 New Hampshire.
Hartford answered in the bottom of the frame. A two-out single by Tyler Nevin set up Colton Welker's RBI double to left that tied the game 1-1.
Los Chivos took the lead in the sixth after a leadoff double, a fly out and a sacrifice fly, but the advantage would be short-lived. Brock Lundquist started the top of the seventh with a triple and scored when Kevin Smith sent a fly ball to deep center for a sac fly of his own. Christian Williams and Riley Adams hit consecutive singles to put runners at the corners with one out and Spanberger brought home his second RBI of the day with a groundout to make it 3-2.
Logue (W, 3-2) turned in his fifth quality start of the season after he scattered six hits and allowed three runs with two walks and six strikeouts over his six and a third innings pitched.
Jackson McClelland (H, 2) was crucial to New Hampshire's success with 1.2 stanzas of scoreless relief. He inherited two runners on with one out in the seventh and walked the first man he faced to load the bases, but back-to-back strikeouts of two of the league's most dangerous hitters - first Welker, then Vince Fernandez - left the bases loaded and preserved a one-run Gatos edge.
Leading 3-2 in the ninth, the Gatos lead increased by one after Smith crushed his team-best fourth home run of the season to left field.
Bryan Baker (S, 2) tossed a perfect ninth to secure the win.
Notable Performers:

  • New Hampshire is 40 this season when they hit two home runs in a game.
  • Brock Lundquist has a hit in five consecutive games after going two for two with a run scored tonight.
