Manchester, NH - Despite Hector Perez's best start as a Fisher Cat, New Hampshire took a 3-2 loss to the defending champion Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates Double-A affiliate) on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Perez, ranked No. 11 among Blue Jays prospects after being acquired from the Houston Astros as part of the Roberto Osuna trade, struck out seven batters over six innings, allowing just one run on two hits with no walks.
Jordan George led off the third inning with a home run to give Altoona a 1-0 lead. The Fisher Cats tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. Forrest Wall doubled off the wall in center, moved to third on a groundout, and scored on a single by Connor Panas.
Altoona regained the lead in the top of the seventh inning against Kirby Snead (L, 3-4). Ke'Bryan Hayes and Bryan Reynolds drew walks, with both scoring on a double by Jin-De Jhang to give the Curve a 3-1 advantage.
Max Pentecost hit an opposite field solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut the lead to 3-2. After a couple of walks, Connor Panas singled, but Altoona threw home to get a sliding Forrest Wall to keep the lead and eventually earn the win.

The teams will meet one more time on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. An Atlas Fireworks Show will follow the game, presented by U.S. Army. RHP T. J. Zeuch (8-4, 3.12) starts for New Hampshire against Altoona RHP Eduard Vera (6-3, 4.48). For tickets and information, visit nhfishercats.com or call (603) 641-2005.
