The New Orleans Baby Cakes used three home runs, including a go-ahead grand slam by Jon Rodriguez, to power past the Memphis Redbirds, 10-6.
In addition to winning their fifth game in a row, the Baby Cakes' have won seven straight on the road and 10 of 11 overall.
The Baby Cakes continued their recent home run barrage by hitting three for the second night in a row, and have homered at least twice during each game of their five-game winning streak.
J.B. Shuck went deep in the third inning to put New Orleans ahead 4-2, only for the Redbirds to answer with two runs in the bottom half. The game's biggest blow came in the fifth, when former Redbird Jon Rodriguez broke a 4-4 tie with a grand slam, his team-leading 13th home run of the year. Isan Diaz put the game away with a two-run shot in the ninth to complete the scoring.
Diaz also drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning, after Braxton Lee had put the 'Cakes on top with an infield single.
Another ex-Redbird, Zac Gallen, was unable to match the success from his first two starts against Memphis, when he allowed one run in 11 total innings. Twice handed a two-run cushion, Gallen gave the lead back both times and was lifted after allowing four runs on six hits in three innings.
Joe Gunkel (1-1) notched five strikeouts in four innings out of the bullpen to pick up his first win of the season, and Dylan Lee worked the final two frames to earn his first Triple-A save.
Dominic Leone (1-1) served up the Rodriguez slam in the fifth and suffered the defeat after Redbirds starter Connor Jones walked six in three innings.
The Baby Cakes pursue a second straight road series sweep in the finale of the four-game set on Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
