Peter O'Brien homered twice to spark the New Orleans Baby Cakes to a 6-5 comeback win over the Nashville Sounds on Saturday.
The 'Cakes have won 12 of 14 games to even their record at 62-62, the first time New Orleans has been at .500 since June 21.
On Saturday, it required twice erasing a three-run deficit, after Nashville pushed across a pair of first-inning runs and Anthony Garcia belted his 20th home run of the season to lead off the fourth.
The teams traded runs in the fifth before the Baby Cakes' bats sprung to life in the sixth. O'Brien led off the frame with a home run, and J.B. Shuck doubled in a run, though the 'Cakes wasted a bases-loaded opportunity with one out. But an inning later, New Orleans went ahead to staywhen Tomas Telis tripled and scored on a Chris Bostick single, before O'Brien clubbed his sixth home run in the last seven games to give the 'Cakes a 6-4 advantage.
It was O'Brien's second multi-homer game on the road trip and the 15th of his career.
Sheldon Neuse pulled the Sounds within one run with a two-out RBI single in the eighth, only the fifth run scored against the Baby Cakes' bullpen in the last 40 innings.
Tyler Kinley worked around a leadoff single in the bottom of the ninth, getting help from a friendly bounce off the backstop on a strikeout and wild pitch, and fanning Dustin Fowler to end the game for his eighth save.
Ben Meyer (5-4) gave up a run and four hits in 2 2/3 innings to get the win in relief of Dillon Peters, who was charged with four runs in five innings.
Josh Lucas (0-2) gave up four hits and three runs in the seventh inning and was charged with the loss, the fourth straight defeat for Nashville to equal its season high.
The Baby Cakes and Sounds wrap up the series on Sunday at 6:15 p.m.
