Hector Noesi's bounceback performance gave New Orleans its fifth win on its seven-game road trip, closing out with a 10-6 victory on Tuesday afternoon.
Noesi (7-3) allowed only one base runner through the first four innings, a solo home run by Sam Hilliard. Noesi struck out six in that period, of nine total in the game.
He finished the game with six innings, allowing three hits and two runs with no walks, retiring the Isotopes in order in four different innings.
The Baby Cakes got the scoring off early, tallying three times in the first inning. Five of the first seven hitters reached base, including walks by Lewis Brinson and Eddy Alvarez and singles by Yangervis Solarte, Deven Marrero and Wilkin Castillo. Gabriel Guerrero, the sixth hitter, drove in the second run on a sacrifice fly to deep right.
It was Guerrero's ninth RBI on the trip.
Isotopes starter David Holman (1-3) exited after a clean second inning, but was pegged with the loss as the 'Cakes never relinquished their early lead.
The 'Cakes added two more in the fifth, including a solo home run by Alvarez. It was his fifth extra-base hit of the series, with one in each of his first five games with New Orleans, giving New Orleans a 5-1 lead.
Albuquerque got one back in the bottom of the frame after leadoff back-to-back singles by Hilliard and Brian Mundell, the last hits off Noesi in the game, before converting on a Noel Cuevas sacrifice fly.
Riley Ferrell pitched two hitless innings with a strikeout and a walk, earning his third hold with New Orleans on his rehab assignment. The 'Topes rallied for four off Parker Bugg in the bottom of the ninth, capped by a three-run home run by Drew Weeks, but came up four runs short.
Noesi entered the game on the heels of back-to-back games with at least four earned runs allowed, setting new season highs. His three home runs in each of those games ties for the most by a 'Cakes pitcher this season, and brought his 15 total within two of the most in the league.
Brinson added a bases-clearing triple to a cap a five-run eighth, blowing the game open. He tallied three walks in the game, tying his career high, and the first time he reached the mark since 2014, out of eight total for New Orleans on the day, a new season high.
Deven Marrero went 3-for-5, going 14-for-29 overall on the road trip.
The 'Cakes scored in the first inning in each of the four games in Albuquerque.
The Baby Cakes secured their third win in the series, and 40th on the season. They return home on Thursday after a league-wide off day tomorrow to begin a five-game set with the Nashville Sounds. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m. Central.
