Meneses Homers As Portland Falls to Senators

HARRISBURG, PA – The Portland Sea Dogs fell 8-1 to the Harrisburg Senators on Friday night at FNB Field. The Sea Dogs were only able to record four hits against Senators pitching, including a solo home run by Joey Meneses. Portland falls to 17-11 on the season while Harrisburg improves to 9-18.

Carson Teel earned his first win of the season for the Senators pitching 7.0 innings allowing one run on four hits while striking out three. Josh Winckowski was given the loss, tossing 5.0 innings allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out two.

The Senators started scoring in the first inning. Cole Freeman led off with a single then stole second base. Corbin Joseph drove him home with a single to left field and Harrisburg led, 1-0. Back-to-back hits by Corbin Joseph and Jakson Reetz allowed two more Senators to score and the Sea Dogs trailed, 3-0.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Aldrem Corredor led off with a single then advanced to third when the next two batters singled. A sacrifice fly by Nick Banks to centerfield brought Corredor home and the Senators extended their lead, 4-0.

The Sea Dogs scored their only run of the game in the sixth inning after Joey Meneses hit his fifth home run of the season to lead-off and Portland continued to trail, 4-1.

Rio Gomez came in relief in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Sea Dogs. Harrisburg capitalized on a pair of hits and an error by the Sea Dogs in the bottom of the sixth inning and plated four runs off the reliever and the Senators continued to lead, 8-1.

The Sea Dogs and Senators meet for game five of the series tomorrow, June 5 at 6:00pm. RHP Luis Reyes (1-3, 7.30 ERA) will be on the mound for Harrisburg and Portland is TBD.
