Aces Hit the Road for Six-Game Series Against Bees

After a six-game homestand against the Oklahoma City Dodgers, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Reno Aces (35-31) will take on the Salt Lake Bees (31-35), Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, for a six-game road series starting Tuesday, June 21.

The Aces took two games out of the six-game homestand against Oklahoma City last week.

SCOUTING SALT LAKE CITY

The Bees recently lost all six games on the road against the Albuquerque Istotopes, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

Magneuris Sierra leads the Bees in RBI (35) and stolen bags (14). The outfielder is hitting .333 in the month of June with two homers, eight RBI and six stolen bases in 16 games played.

In his last three games, Kean Wong is hitting .363 (4-for-11) with an RBI. Wong currently leads Salt Lake with 55 hits.

Jake Kalish and Cesar Valdez headline Salt Lake’s starting rotation and rank in the top five for ERA in the Pacific Coast League. Kalish currently sports a 6-2 record with a 2.56 ERA and has struck out 56 batters in 56.1 innings. Valdez carries a 5-3 record with a 3.12 ERA and has a 0.99 WHIP.

Salt Lake’s roster includes five Top-30 prospects in the Angels’ organization: Janson Junk (10), Davis Daniel (12), Ryan Smith (23), Michael Stefanic (24) and Elvis Peguero (25)

ACES HIGH

The Aces played the Bees earlier in April and won four of the six games at Greater Nevada Field. During that series, Stone Garrett hit .363 (8-for-22) with a homer and five RBI. In his lone start against Salt Lake, Tommy Henry fired off 5.1 shutout innings of no-hit ball and fanned seven batters in a no-decision.

In their most recent series against Oklahoma City, Dominic Fletcher hit .562 (9-for-16) in six games played with a homer, two RBI and seven runs scored. The outfielder is currently batting .359 in June with two homers, eight RBI and 17 runs scored in 16 games.

In his first series at Greater Nevada Field, Cole Tucker felt right at home and batted .444 (8-for-18) with three RBI and two runs scored.

Garrett flexed his power and showed off his wheels against Oklahoma City with a pair of homers with two RBI and stole four bases in five games. Garrett leads the Pacific Coast League in RBI (55), ranks second in homers (17) and third in OPS (.988)

On the mound, Tyler Gilbert earned a pair of wins in one start and one relief appearance. The southpaw tossed a combined nine innings between the two appearances, allowed three earned runs on nine hits and struck out seven batters.

Keynan Middleton continues to be a reliable reliever for the Aces after recording two shutout innings of no-hit ball and struck out two batters in two appearances against Oklahoma City. The right-hander hasn’t allowed an earned run in an Aces uniform since April 9.
