KISSIMMEE, Fla. (July 9, 2018) - The Florida State League announced its Players of the Week on Monday afternoon, and Florida Fire Frogs starting pitcher, Ian Anderson  has been named the Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 2-8. This is Rexford, N.Y. native's second career Pitcher of the Week award. The third overall pick of the 2016 draft earned the honors for the week of May 28, 2017 while with the Rome Braves (A-).

The Atlanta Braves' fourth-ranked prospect (MLB.com) went 2-0 in his two starts, and did not yield a run to the Jupiter Hammerheads or Palm Beach Cardinals at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
The 20-year-old struck out 18 batters across 11 innings of work, while limiting the opposition to five hits, and issued just one free pass.The right-hander has not allowed a run since the sixth inning of a June 26 contest against the Dunedin Blue Jays at Osceola County Stadium, spanning 13 frames. 
Over three starts since the second half, Anderson has allowed two runs on 11 hits, four walks and 24 strikeouts across 17 innings, posting an ERA of 2.12 in the process. 
Anderson joins teammate Braxton Davidson  as the two Fire Frogs player to earn Player of the Week honors, and becomes the fourth player in team history to take home a weekly award.
Florida heads into a five-game series against the Daytona Tortugas starting Monday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Day one features a doubleheader to open the series, with LHP Joey Wentz  (2-2, 2.51) will toe the rubber in game one, and LHP Kyle Muller  (3-1, 3.48) takes the mound in game two for the road team. First pitch is schedule for 5:00 p.m., with coverage starting at 4:45 p.m. on the Florida Fire Frogs Broadcasting Network.
