Rainiers' Rohn named PCL skipper of year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Tacoma Rainiers manager Dan Rohn has been selected the 2005 Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year, an accolade annually chosen by his peers as well as media representatives from throughout the League, the League announced today. Rohn becomes the first manager to earn the award for the third time and the second to earn it two consecutive years.

After being named the 2004 PCL Manager of the Year for leading Tacoma to a 79-63 record and second place in the division, Rohn has returned in 2005 for his fifth year as the Rainiers skipper and has led Tacoma to a current top position in the Pacific Northern division with a 77-63 record. On Friday, August 26th, Rohn recorded his 800th career victory as a manager and currently post a .502 career winning percentage. He was also named the PCL Manager of the Year in 2001 when he led Tacoma to a 85-59 record and a PCL co-Championship.

Rohn resides in Traverse City, Michigan and is in his 12th season as a professional manager and eighth in the Mariners organization. He holds the longest tenure of any current PCL skipper with his five years with Tacoma. In 2000, he guided the New Haven Ravens to an Eastern League Championship and a 82-60 record.

Rohn joins Jim Lefebvre from Phoenix as the only other manager to receive the PCL honor two consecutive years. Lefebrve was named in 1985-86.
