Freight House District Plans Unveiled

365-day-a-year entertainment destination to open by April 2010
November 6, 2009
SK Baseball today unveiled plans for the Freight House District, an entertainment development adjacent to Aces Ballpark and scheduled for completion for April 2010.

With the steel framework of the project already rising above the ballpark's plaza, SK Baseball Managing Partner Stuart Katzoff admitted the event was a "non-traditional" groundbreaking. Initial construction on the Freight House District had begun on September 15, shortly after the Aces' inaugural season concluded, and is on schedule to be completed by the Aces' first game in April.

"This will be a 365-day-a-year entertainment district that will keep people coming downtown", Katzoff said.

Reno Mayor Bob Cashell and several members of the Reno City Council were in attendance for the announcement. Katzoff thanked the Mayor and the Reno City Council for their vision, and Devcon Construction for overseeing the construction of the project. He also thanked the nearly 500,000 Aces fans who attended games in 2009, saying, "without you, this wouldn't be possible."

Mayor Cashell thanked the SK Baseball ownership group, Stuart and Jerry Katzoff and Herb Simon, for providing 100 new jobs to the community once the district is operational, as well as the 150 construction jobs during the project. "Everything you do, you do it better than you say you're going to do," Cashell added.

The project is immediately adjacent to the northwest side of Aces Ballpark, and will include all-new restaurants, bars and entertainment. Restaurants in the district will include:

-A sports bar overlooking the playing field
-A restaurant/music venue with the feel of an
          industrial loft
-A beer garden with over 100 varieties of beer
-Los Arroyos, a high-end Mexican restaurant, in
          partnership with California restaurateurs

Additionally, the development will include an outdoor venue for other live musical acts.

The Aces are now accepting season-ticket deposits for the 2010 season. To place a deposit, call (775) 334-4700 or click here.
