Bees and Angels Extend Affiliation Through 2014

December 9, 2009
SALT LAKE CITY (December 9, 2009) - The Salt Lake Bees and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the organizations have signed a two-year Player Development Contract (PDC) extension that will keep the Bees and Angels affiliates through the 2014 season.

"We are pleased to continue our relationship with the Angels," said Greg Miller, CEO of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies. "I have the utmost respect for Tony Reagins and the Angels organization. Having visited with Tony at Angel Stadium on several occasions, it is clear, from player development to stadium operations to fan relations, the Angels are a model franchise."

Los Angeles originally became Salt Lake's parent club in 2001. In the nine seasons under the Angels, the Salt Lake franchise has a 671-621 record and has seen the likes of MLB All-Stars John Lackey, Ervin Santana and Joe Saunders don the home uniform at Spring Mobile Ballpark.

"This extension of our player development contract with Salt Lake through the 2014 season is the direct result of the tremendous professional relationship the Angels have with the Bees organization," said Angels Director of Player Development Abe Flores. "The Bees share our same ideals and commitment to being a first-class organization and we look forward to continued success in Salt Lake in the years to come."

The Angels currently boast 30 players on the team's 40-man roster who have played for the Bees. Among those are infielders Howie Kendrick and Kendry Morales, pitchers Jered Weaver, Joe Saunders, Jason Bulger and Kevin Jepsen, and catchers Jeff Mathis and Mike Napoli.

"We have enjoyed being part of the development of such talented and quality individuals who make great contributions to our team and this community," said Randy Rigby, President of Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment. "We look forward to the coming season as the Angels top affiliate."

Salt Lake Bees season tickets are on sale now, starting as low as $7 a game. Fans can also purchase holiday packs for only $49.50, which include six ticket vouchers and a $10 Fanzz gift card, by calling (801) 325-BASE or by visiting slbees.com.
