Three Ghosts named as starters to the Pioneer League All-Star Team

September 7, 2010

Casper- Three Casper Ghosts were named as starters for the 2010 Pioneer League All-Star team including the Pioneer League pitcher of the year Albert Campos. The league does not play an actual All-Star game due to the short season schedule but does name an All-Star team at the conclusion of each season.

Casper Ghosts starting pitcher Albert Campos was awarded the pitcher of the year honors. Campos, a RHP from Turmero, Venezuela, led the league with an amazing 1.87 ERA while also leading the league in innings pitched. This is the second year in a row that a Casper player has been named the pitcher of the year. Chris Balcom-Miller won the award in 2009.

Rafael Ortega, an OF who also hails from Venezuela, was one of two Ghosts named to the Outfield positions. Ortega, who primarily played centerfield, led the Ghosts with a .361 average as well as leading the team in OBP. Ortega had been named to the 2009 Dominican Summer League All-Star team before being promoted to Casper.

Corey Dickerson, the Colorado Rockies 8th pick in the 2010 Amateur Draft was also a selection in the outfield. Dickerson, a Mississippi native, led the team in homeruns and RBI's. Dickerson played junior college baseball at Meridian Community College.

RHP Tyler Gagnon, IF Brett Tanos, and manager Tony Diaz were named as Honorable Mentions.
