Team looking for National Anthem singers, pre-game performers for 2012 season
February 23, 2012
The River Bandits are again seeking to showcase the talent of the Quad Cities at Modern Woodmen Park this summer. The team will hold tryouts on Saturday, March 3, for individuals and groups, including National Anthem singers, to perform and entertain fans prior to home games during the 2012 season.

"The Quad Cities have a wealth of talented people, and we want them to share their talent at the ballpark," said River Bandits owner Dave Heller. "At Modern Woodmen Park, we put on a different show every night and entertain our guests from the moment they enter our gates until they walk out the door. The talent of the Quad Cities area is a tremendous part of creating that experience."

National Anthem and other pre-game performance tryouts will take place on the Sky Deck at Modern Woodmen Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 3. Registration is first come, first served. Talents can range anywhere from singing, dancing, and comedy to miming, juggling or magic.

Everyone participating in the tryouts will perform their talent for a panel of celebrity judges. Throughout the day, the judges will include:

• Bob Kelly, Greg Hipskind and Liz Treiber of Wicked Liz and the Bellyswirls
• Johnny Marx and Shane Brown of The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus
• Kim Johnson, 9:00 news anchor for FOX-18
• Cody Tucker and Wes Jordan of B100-FM
• Jay Kidwell of CBS-4
• Jason Farrell of the River Cities' Reader
• Mark Manuel of Q106.5-FM
• Jillene of 103.7 WLLR-FM
• Todd Alan of 101.3 KISS-FM

Those talented enough to entertain crowds at River Bandits games this summer will be included in the show during the 2012 season.

"The River Bandits look forward to another season of welcoming terrific local talent to be part of our show," said General Manager Stefanie Brown. "Summers at Modern Woodmen Park are about the Quad Cities community, and this event will go a long way toward making that a reality again this season."

Modern Woodmen Park will also be open for fans to stop in to find out information about seats and ticket plans for the 2012 season.

ABOUT THE BANDITS: After four years of ballpark improvements, the River Bandits and the City of Davenport last summer unveiled some of the most impressive enhancements to Modern Woodmen Park yet. A brand new, state of the art, high definition 20' x 35' video board went live on June 7, and the newly enclosed glass Sky Deck on the suite level of Modern Woodmen Park was completed last August. Those improvements, in addition to new flood protection, a new front plaza, and a new parking lot directly across the street from the ballpark, are quickly making Modern Woodmen Park one of the premier facilities in all of Minor League Baseball. More improvements are scheduled for this coming season!
