Come to Hatfield vs. McCoy Night at Bowen Field

Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show among entertainment at Mercer Cup opener
March 27, 2012
When the Hatfield's and McCoy's of minor league baseball renew their heated rivalry, they'll have some Hatfield and McCoy company at Bowen Field. The 2012 Mercer Cup series between the Bluefield Blue Jays and Princeton Rays gets started in Bluefield on Tuesday, July 17th at 7:00 p.m. and the Baby Birds are celebrating with "Hatfield vs. McCoy Night!"

The first night of the Blue Jays' defense of the Mercer Cup crown will be sponsored by the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. They will be bringing entertainers from the show and great giveaway items for fans.

One lucky fan will win a family vacation to Pigeon Forge including hotel and show tickets courtesy of seepigeonforge.com.

The on-field games during the Mercer Cup contest will all be Hatfield-vs.-McCoy themed and anyone that brings a driver's license or birth certificate showing that they are a true Hatfield or McCoy will get into Bowen Field for free!

The Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show boasts "Feudin', Feastin' Family Fun." The show features "multi-talented characters of mountain folk brandishing rifles, banjos, and rubber chicken and the drama of feudin' in the hills with the sounds of country, bluegrass and gospel music, combined with family comedy and a huge southern feast."

The Mercer Cup, named for Mercer County, is awarded to the winner of the yearly 11-game series between Appy League rivals Bluefield and Princeton. The tradition began in 1992 and Bluefield reclaimed the impressive trophy in 2011 to improve to 11-8-1 all time in the series.

Tickets for Hatfield & McCoy Night and all Blue Jays home games are available at the Bowen Field box office, the Tickets page on BluefieldJays.com, and by phone at 304-324-1326.

The Baby Jays come back from Tuesday's off day and are in action on Wednesday night in Pulaski to face the Mariners. First pitch at Calfee Park is set for 7:00 p.m. Tune in for the radio call right here on BluefieldJays.com! The game can also be heard on WKEZ 1240 AM The Rooster Classic Country.
