Dayton, Ohio-Juan Silva was 2 for 2 with two doubles and two runs scored and Yovan Gonzalez added two hits and two runs batted in to lead the Dayton Dragons to a 6-1 victory over the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Sunday afternoon before a crowd of 8,511 at Fifth Third Field. The win was the Dragons fifth in their last seven games and their seventh win in the last 10 home games.

The Dragons can earn their fourth straight series victory with a win on Monday night in the rubber match of the three-game set with Bowling Green.

Dragons starting pitcher Radhames Quezada (4-6) went the first six innings, allowing five hits and one run with four walks and three strikeouts to notch his third straight win. It was the third straight start for Quezada in which he allowed just one run, and in all three games, the run came on a solo home run.

The Dragons got the scoring started in the second inning when Silva doubled to the left field corner with one out, stole third, and scored on the same play when the throw by catcher Matt Rice got into left field to make it 1-0. The Dragons added another run in the fourth when Silva walked, went to second on a single to center field by Sean Buckley, and scored on Gonzalez's hit to center.

In the fifth, the Dragons tacked on another run when Kurtis Muller lined a single to center, stole second, and scored on Joe Terry's triple to make it 3-0. Bowling Green's Josh Sale answered with a solo home run to right field in the sixth to pull the Hot Rods to within two.

But the Dragons added two more runs in the sixth to take a commanding lead. After Ryan Wright singled, the Dragons drew three consecutive walks including one to Gonzalez with the bases loaded to force in a run. Juan Perez later added a sacrifice fly to center to drive in another and make it 5-1. In the seventh, Wright and Silva produced back-to-back doubles to bring in another run and close out the scoring.

The Dragons finished with 10 hits. Silva, Gonzalez, Muller, and Wright each had two hits.

The Dragons bullpen fired three scoreless innings. Mike Dennhardt continued his string of strong performances, going two shutout innings. He allowed four singles but no walks and struck out three. Dennhardt has allowed just one unearned run over his last 13.1 innings to lower his earned run average to 1.53. Ryan Kemp tossed a scoreless ninth inning, allowing only a two-out single, and getting a strikeout to end the game.

The Dragons (26-37) host the Hot Rods (34-29) on Monday in the last game of the series at 7:00 p.m. (WONE 980 AM) at Fifth Third Field. Reds relief pitcher Bill Bray is scheduled to pitch one inning in the game on a major league rehabilitation assignment. Tanner Robles (4-3, 4.45) will start for Dayton against Bowling Green's Ryan Carpenter (5-2, 3.53). The Dragons begin a six-game road trip at Great Lakes on Tuesday night.
