Dayton, Ohio-Ryan Wright belted a two-run home run in the sixth inning to bring the Dayton Dragons back from a 3-2 deficit on the way to a 4-3 victory over the South Bend Silver Hawks on Friday night. A crowd of 8,343 saw the Dragons win the rubber match of the three-game series at Fifth Third Field.

Wright's home run to left field came after a bunt single by Yorman Rodriguez to start the inning. The blast was Wright's second homer of the season and came after South Bend had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the inning.

Dayton initially took the lead in the second inning when Wright doubled and scored on Kyle Waldrop's run-scoring single. The two-base hit by Wright extended his hitting streak to 14 straight games.

Rodriguez belted a home run to left field for the Dragons in the fourth to make it 2-0. It was Rodriguez's second of the year.

South Bend tied the game in the top of the fifth with two unearned runs against Dragons starting pitcher Stalin Gerson, taking advantage of misplayed fly ball in left field by Waldrop. The Silver Hawks took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth on an RBI double by Kerry Jenkins.

After Wright's homer gave the Dragons the lead in the sixth, Mike Dennhardt tossed two perfect innings out of the Dayton bullpen. Carlos Contreras pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his ninth save.

Gerson tossed the first five innings. He allowed four hits and two unearned runs while walking none and striking out one. Cole Green (1-0) was credited with the victory. He allowed the tie-breaking run in the top of the sixth before the Dragons rallied in the bottom of the inning.

The Dragons finished the night with seven hits. Wright and Rodriguez each had two.

The Dragons (5-10) open a new three-game series at home against the Great Lakes Loons (6-8) on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Fifth Third Field.
