Gomez throws complete game shutout

Columbus right-hander limits Indy to two hits
July 13, 2012

Jeanmar Gomez was nearly untouchable as he lifted the Clippers to a 2-0 triumph over the Indianapolis Indians.

Columbus would get on the board first in the top of the third. Tim Fedroff led off the frame with a triple that rolled to the base of the center field wall. Fedroff would then score on a Daniel Cabrera wild pitch, giving his club a 1-0 lead.

That 1-0 edge would double to 2-0 in the top of the 4th when Vinnie Rottino cranked a solo shot over the left field wall for his fifth homer of the season.

Meanwhile, Clippers right-hander Jeanmar Gomez (W, 2-1) had a stellar outing on the bump. In a complete game effort, Gomez shut-out the Indians on two hits while striking out seven and walking two. Daniel Cabrera (L, 4-4) was hit with the loss for Indianapolis.

Saturday night baseball will take place in the "Circle City" of Indianapolis as the Clippers continue their five game set with the Indians. Left-hander David Huff (4-4, 4.58) will start on the mound for Columbus. Indy will have left-hander Justin Wilson (7-4, 3.44) get the ball. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
