Offensive Players of the Week

International League
Dallas McPherson, Charlotte
(.433/.469/.867, 7 G, 13-for-30, 1 2B, 4 HR, 13 RBI, 9 R, 2 BB, 11 K)
McPherson led the Minor Leagues with 42 home runs while playing for Albuquerque in 2008 and added 42 more in 2010 and 2011 but began the week with just six in 45 games in 2012. As the Knights hit the road in New York State, the third baseman (who turns 32 Monday) rediscovered his power stroke, going 7-for-18 with two homers and six RBIs over four games against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and adding two more blasts and seven RBIs in three games at Buffalo over the weekend. McPherson lifted his slugging percentage from .418 to .487 during the seven games.

Pacific Coast League
Jimmy Paredes, Oklahoma City
(.500/.514/.794, 7 G, 17-for-34, 1 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 7 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 CS)
The speedy Paredes has excelled in his first season at Triple-A, where he is batting .332 and is just two off the PCL lead with 28 stolen bases. Having split time all around the infield in previous years, the 23-year-old has played second base exclusively for the RedHawks this season. This week the switch-hitting Paredes erupted for 17 hits -- three of them home runs -- and he's collected multiple hits in seven of his eight games since the Triple-A All-Star game.

Eastern League
Jeremy Hazelbaker, Portland
(.417/.500/1.083, 6 G, 10-for-24, 2 2B, 1 3B, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 10 R, 5 BB, 5 K, 7 SB)
The 24-year-old Hazelbaker did it all for the Sea Dogs this week, slugging four homers, stealing seven bases and scoring 10 runs. In a pair of games against visiting Reading on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Ball State product went 6-for-7 with two homers, two doubles, three walks and three steals while scoring seven times. The two longballs and five RBIs all came in the Sea Dogs' 12-0 rout of the R-Phils on Wednesday. Hazelbaker ranks fifth in the Eastern League with 24 stolen bases and sixth with 15 homers on the season.

Southern League
Kentrail Davis, Huntsville
(.450/.522/.950, 6 G, 9-for-20, 1 2B, 3 3B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 6 R, 3 BB, 5 K, 1 SB, 2 CS)
Davis' bat has warmed up as the season has gone along -- he's hitting .329/.397/.614 in 20 July games, with three of his four homers and four of his six triples coming this month. After going 3-for-3 with a longball and a pair of triples in the opening game of Tuesday's doubleheader against Birmingham, the 24-year-old outfielder reached base in each of his six games this week. A first-round pick in 2009, Davis is putting together a strong second half of 2012 after a disappointing 2011 campaign for Brevard County in the Florida State League.

Texas League
Engel Beltre, Frisco
(.333/.355/.767, 7 G, 10-for-30, 2 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 4 RBI, 7 R, 1 BB, 7 K, 1 CS)
Beltre struggled mightily in June, batting just .180 with two RBIs and two walks while striking out 23 times in 24 games. The speedy center fielder has bounced back in July, however, with four consecutive multi-hit games this week, including three straight games with a home run against San Antonio between Tuesday and Thursday. Beltre leads the Texas League with 12 triples -- only teammate Leury Garcia has as many as eight -- and is third on the circuit with 25 stolen bases.

California League
Max Stassi, Stockton
(.296/.345/.778, 7 G, 8-for-27, 1 2B, 4 HR, 5 RBI, 6 R, 2 BB, 8 K)
A shoulder injury limited Stassi to just 31 games last season, and the 2009 fourth-round pick was sidelined by an ankle injury for much of this April. Healthy and back in the lineup full-time, the 21-year-old backstop is having his finest pro season. He slugged four homers this week, raising his total to 11 in 69 games this season -- only two Cal League catchers have more round-trippers.

Carolina League
Michael Taylor, Potomac
(.483/.531/.931, 7 G, 14-for-29, 4 2B, 3 HR, 8 RBI, 13 R, 3 BB, 7 K)
It's been a rough season at times for Taylor, who ranks fourth in the Carolina League with 95 strikeouts in 94 games. This week was far from rough, however, as the 21-year-old outfielder bashed his first three homers of the season, highlighted by his performance in two games against visiting Myrtle Beach on Friday and Saturday. Taylor went deep in both contests and added three doubles and three singles in 10 at-bats. The three doubles gave Taylor 29 for the season, third-most in the league. He's scored 10 times in his last four games.

Florida State League
Edgar Duran, Clearwater
(.444/.545/.944, 6 G, 8-for-18, 3 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 4 R, 3 BB, 3 K, 2 SB)
Duran was having an average week before Clearwater traveled to Charlotte for a weekend series against the Stone Crabs. The Venezuelan-born shortstop doubled on Thursday and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs on Friday before blasting a pair of homers -- just his second and third of the season -- and driving in four runs on Saturday. The Stone Crabs were spared further Duran-related damage only when rain washed out Sunday's series finale.

Midwest League
Tyler Stubblefield, Fort Wayne
(.458/.480/.750, 6 G, 11-for-24, 4 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 7 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 3 SB, 1 CS)
Stubblefield isn't blessed with great power -- he has five home runs and 10 doubles in 69 games this season -- but he makes contact and gets on base. The 24-year-old made a lot of contact this week, with four multi-hit games that lifted his July line to .344/.423/.475 in 20 games. Backed by Stubblefield's offensive outburst, the TinCaps won all six of their games this week -- the final five coming on the road -- and are tied with Bowling Green and first-half champion Lansing atop the Eastern Division at 18-11 in the second half.

South Atlantic League
Mike Kvasnicka, Lexington
(.385/.393/.962, 6 G, 10-for-26, 3 2B, 4 HR, 15 RBI, 5 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 CS)
Kvasnicka, a 23-year-old switch-hitting catcher who has recently spent time in the outfield, is hitting just .226/.267/.410 for the season, but no one can argue with his production this week. A first-round pick out of the University of Minnesota in 2010, Kvasnicka has slugged four homers and driven in 15 runs in his last six games, capped by an outburst at Greenville on Sunday that saw him go deep twice and plate seven runs. The two homers against the Drive came from opposite sides of the plate and gave him 14 longballs on the season.

New York-Penn League
Christian Walker, Aberdeen
(.423/.500/.769, 7 G, 11-for-26, 5 R, 3 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 5 R, 4 BB, 4 K, 1 CS)
A fourth-round pick out of the University of South Carolina last month, Walker is only 15 games into his pro career. It's going pretty well so far. On Monday the 21-year-old first baseman drove in a run on a fielder's choice in the first inning before delivering a three-run shot, his first as a pro, in the third as Aberdeen beat Batavia, 7-4. He had multiple hits in four of his next six games and went deep again on Sunday against Hudson Valley. After going 0-for-9 in his first two games, Walker has reached base in 12 of his last 13.

Northwest League
Mike Zunino, Everett
(.407/.500/.815, 7 G, 11-for-27, 2 2B, 3 HR, 3 RBI, 8 R, 4 BB, 3 K)
It hasn't taken long for Zunino to demonstrate why the Mariners made him the third overall pick in the 2012 Draft. He doubled and scored twice in his pro debut on July 14, hit his first homer two days later and added a pair of solo shots at Salem-Keizer on Tuesday. The 21-year-old catcher has reached base in each of his nine games as a pro and is hitting .394/.487/.758 with 10 runs scored.

Appalachian League
Art Charles, Bluefield
(.421/.621/1.000, 8 G, 8-for-19, 1 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 5 R, 9 BB, 4 K, 1 SB)
Despite owning a .235 batting average, Charles leads the Appy League with a .459 on-base percentage, thanks to his league-leading 32 walks. The nightcap of Monday's doubleheader at Elizabethton summed up the first baseman's game: Charles went 2-for-2 with a homer, three RBIs, three walks and four runs scored. Now in his third campaign with Bluefield, Charles has reached base in all but one of his 30 games this season and ranks second in the league in OPS.

Pioneer League
Seth Majias-Brean, Billings
(.583/.593/.875, 6 G, 14-for-24, 2 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 6 R, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 SB)
An eighth-round pick out of the University of Arizona last month, Mejias-Brean got off to a slow start in Billings, going 2-for-14 in his first five games. Since then he has 19 hits in nine games, capped by a 5-for-5 performance at Orem on Sunday in which he fell a home run shy of the cycle. The third baseman drove in seven runs in the four-game set against the Owlz and is now hitting .420/.492/.680 in his first 14 games as a pro. Majias-Brean has been so dominant that he has more doubles (five) than strikeouts (four).
