Schlosser tosses first career shutout
Schlosser allowed five hits and fanned six while going the distance as Class A Advanced Lynchburg blanked Potomac, 5-0, on Monday.
A 17th-round pick by the Braves in 2011, Schlosser faced three over the minimum en route to his 11th win. After allowing a one-out double to Adrian Sanchez in the first inning, Schlosser retired 11 in a row. The Florida Southern College product needed just 94 pitches to toss his first complete game and was aided by his defense as the Hillcats turned three double plays.
Schlosser has not allowed a run since Matt Fields hit a solo homer with two outs in the sixth inning of the Hillcats' loss to Wilmington on July 6, a stretch spanning 23 1/3 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander has won three straight, having allowed 10 hits and two walks while fanning 18 batters.
The Florida native leads the Carolina League in wins and ranks third with a 2.99 ERA. Schlosser is tied for fourth with 101 strikeouts and his 1.01 WHIP is third in the league.
No. 18 Braves prospect Adam Milligan was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while recently acquired Michael Spina plated two for Lynchburg.
Robbie Ray, the Nationals' No. 10 prospect, fell to 4-7 after yielding four runs on seven hits over five innings for Potomac.
