Where Are They Now: Jonathan Tucker
Outfielder Jonathan Tucker was drafted by the Orioles in the 20th Round of the 2004 First Year Player Draft. He began his career at Rookie level Bluefield and slowly worked his way through the Orioles system, advancing to Bowie for the start of the 2008 season.
Drafted out of the University of Florida, the speedy outfielder spent the majority of three seasons with the Baysox between 2008 and 2010. During that time, he hit a number of career and single-season milestones with the team. He is third in franchise history in stolen bases (61), third in runs (184), fourth in games played (321) and tied for fourth in triples (9). He also led the team with 31 stolen bases in 2009, the eighth most in a season in team history.
In his seven seasons with the Orioles, Tucker advanced as high as Triple-A Norfolk where he played in a combined 28 games over two seasons, batting .259 with six doubles and six stolen bases.
At the end of the 2010 season, Tucker and the Orioles parted ways and he signed with the Washington Nationals. In 2011, He played in 75 games for the Double-A Harrisburg Senators, batting .224 with 23 RBI and 12 stolen bases. After the 2011 season, Tucker left the Nationals organization and he started the 2012 season playing Independent League ball for the Somerset Patriots. He played in 96 games for the Patriots and was good enough to catch the attention of the Nationals, where he finished the season appearing in 22 games for the Senators.
