Where Are They Now: Matt Angle

December 11, 2012
The Baysox have completed their 20th season, and during that time, hundreds of players have come through Bowie. Some have stopped in for just a few weeks and others have been here for years before moving on with their careers. During the offseason, check back to baysox.com to find out where some of those players are now.

Outfielder Matt Angle was drafted by the Orioles in the seventh round of the 2007 First Year Player Draft. The speedy center fielder started his professional career with Short-Season Aberdeen in 2007 and advanced to Single-A Delmarva in 2008, where he stole a combined 71 bases over the two levels.

In 2009, the Columbus, Ohio native started the year with Advanced-A Frederick, where he hit .289 with 17 doubles and 32 RBI before being promoted to Bowie at the end of the year. Angle spent parts of the 2009 and 2010 seasons with Bowie and batted .375 with 10 RBI and seven stolen bases.

Angle was promoted to Triple-A from Bowie in 2010 and he continued to show off on the base paths, stealing 24 more bases in 87 games. In 2011, Angle returned to Norfolk to start the year, but he was promoted to Baltimore and made his Major League debut July 17. He played in a total of 31 games for the Orioles and hit .177 with 11 stolen bases.

In February 2012, Angle was designated for assignment by the Orioles and claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He spent this past season with Triple-A Albuquerque, where he hit .303 with 18 doubles and 47 RBI in 115 games.
