First Wave of 2013 Promotions Announced

The 2013 season opens at FirstEnergy Park on Thursday, April 4th, when the BlueClaws take on the Kannapolis Intimidators (White Sox). They will spend the first week of the season at home, a week which includes a special BlueClaws Scarf giveaway (1st 2,000 fans) thanks to TD Bank on Saturday, April 6th.
While the BlueClaws will again have fireworks shows after every Friday home game (plus July 2nd, July 3rd, and September 1st), this year, the team has added special "First Saturday" fireworks shows. After the first Saturday game of June (1st), July (13th), and August (10th), there will be a special post-game fireworks show. All told, the BlueClaws will light up the Jersey Shore sky after 17 games in 2013.
In line with the BlueClaws hosting the 2013 South Atlantic League All-Star Game, the BlueClaws will welcome in former SAL All-Star Cecil Fielder for a special autograph signing on June 12th, the last BlueClaws home game prior to the All-Star festivities. Fielder was a 1983 South Atlantic League All-Star while a member of the Florence Blue Jays. He went on to hit 319 Major League home runs including 51 for the 1990 Detroit Tigers.
Among the newer promotional nights this year include an appearance by Mr. Belding of Saved By The Bell (Dennis Haskins), who will be here for a special meet & greet plus autograph signing at the July 11th game. June 2nd will include the annual Kids Expo, plus a performance by the Russian Bar Trio circus artists.
Among the other ballpark staples to return are Nine Innings for Nature on April 21st (thanks to New Jersey Natural Gas), Bark in the Park on May 4th (thanks to 95.9 WRAT and Magic 100.1), two appearances by the Phillie Phanatic on June 27th and July 29th (thanks to OceanFirst Bank), an appearance by the ZOOperstars on July 25th, Bruce Springsteen Appreciation Night (BruceClaws) on July 27th and the annual Fan Appreciation Day with a post-game photo on the field on September 2nd.
Other day of the week promotions that return include Kids Eat Free every Sunday and Monday thanks to ShopRite (kids 12 & under receive a free hot dog, bag of chips, and a soda). Seniors Eat Free every Tuesday thanks to TD Bank (seniors receive a free hot dog, bag of chips, and a soda) plus we play Baseball Bingo throughout the night. Thursdays are Thirsty Thursdays thanks to 66MVP (with dollar beer and soda plus 50-cent wings in the Coors Light WRAT Trap).
As noted, the 2013 South Atlantic League All-Star Game, presented by Kimball and Community Medical Centers, OceanFirst Bank, and Shore Point Distributing Company, comes to Lakewood on June 18th. As part of the festivities, there will be a Celebrity Hitting Challenge at the park on Monday, June 17th. For more on these events, visit BlueClaws.com/AllStar.
Presently, BlueClaws tickets, as well as All-Star and Celebrity Hitting Challenge tickets, are on sale through ticket packages. Individual game tickets, including those to the All-Star Game and Celebrity Hitting Challenge, will go on sale at the team's FanFest on March 2nd at FirstEnergy Park. FanFest runs from 11 am - 4 pm. Individual game tickets will go on sale via BlueClaws.com and over the phone beginning Monday, March 4th.
The Lakewood BlueClaws have led the South Atlantic League and New Jersey in attendance in all 12 years of existence. Last season, they went over the 5-million fan mark, becoming the fastest SAL or NJ team to do so.
This year, the team will host the 2013 South Atlantic League All-Star Game on June 18th, the second time that event has come to FirstEnergy Park.
