Lookouts' Puig stopped for speeding

Dodgers top prospect Yasiel Puig was arrested Sunday and charged with speeding, reckless driving and driving without proof of insurance, according to a posting on the website of the Hamilton County's Sheriff's Office in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Details of the arrest were not immediately available.

Playing for the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts, Puig has been on the disabled list with a sprained left thumb. He is hitting .333 with three homers and nine RBIs in 13 games.

"We're aware of it," Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said in a statement. "We take it seriously. We'll be handling discipline internally."

The Dodgers signed the 22-year-old Cuban defector last June, giving him a reported seven-year, $42 million contract. He nearly made the Major League team out of Spring Training after batting .517 with three homers, two triples, five doubles, 11 RBIs and a 1.328 OPS in 27 games.

"I heard a guy say one time, you feed babies baby food. You don't give them steak when they are 6 months old," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told reporters earlier this month, referring to Puig. "Let him learn his lessons where they should be learned."
